On May 23, Ellie turned one month old. WOW does time fly! At her one month check up, Ellie weighed in at 10 lbs. even and is 22 inches long. She is in the 90th percentile for length and 75th percentile for weight. We're officially out of newborn clothing and into 0-3 months. She is growing up SO fast!

A week of firsts
The past week has been full of firsts for Ellie - first weekend visit with the Greers, first family dinner at a restaurant, first "lunch with the Girls" and most fun for Ellie (although she slept most of the time) - first playdates!!!
Last Friday, we had two playdates! One with Eva, Claire, Noah and Zachary and a later one with Danny. (See photos below). Although Ellie is still young, we believe that her playdates help her to learn the important aspects of socializing. And the true reason is, it helps Mom get out of the house to see friends!
Anyone wishing to have a playdate soon, give us a ring! Mom loves getting out of the house and still has two months off of work!

Three week growth spurt
Ellie is three weeks today!!!! Our baby books have told us that Ellie will have a growth spurt at three weeks - and let me tell you, I'm pretty sure she has! Last night, she was up every two hours wanting to eat (we were at 3-4 hours for a few days now). And she continues to sleep like crazy. But when she isn't sleeping, she's been very fussy for the past day or so. I'm chalking this up to the growth spurt! And to report on her weight - last week, she weighed in at 8 lbs., 8 oz., and I'm sure she's grown since then.
The one thing that has saved us through all of this is the famous swaddle. For soon to be parents or new parents - adopt this routine and make it your best friend! Our good friends, the Paks (Sarah and Tom) and the Frenchs (Bruce and Jen) told us about this well kept secret, and since we've learned what to do - Ellie at least sleeps without us holding her the whole night!!!! Now we just have to work on her sleeping longer than 2 hours at a time.

Wish us luck as we start getting Ellie into a routine. All advice is welcome - and as always, visitors are never turned away. :)

First weekend away
This past weekend, we traveled to Grand Rapids to attend Matt's sister Emily's wedding. While it was a quick and busy weekend, Ellie was great. She slept through the whole thing and was more than okay being passed around to friends and family. She's such a good baby!

On Mother's Day, we visited the Greers before heading back to Detroit. All four grandparents (the Hoffmans and the Greers) were there so it was a great way to kick off Mother's Day!
Upon our return home, we met the Hoffmans for dinner and then visited Great Grandma Hoffman and Aunt Lisa. It was Ellie's first long day - and she was great. Hope to see you all soon!
